Pall of gloom in Noor Nagar after 22-year-old dies in road accident

A pall of gloom descended on this part of Noor Nagar as news of the death of its bright son Maaz Ahmad trickled on Thursday.

Some residents were seen talking about 22-year-old Ahmad even on Saturday as news of accident spread in the adjoining lane.

Syed Fouzul Azeem (Arshi) said he came to know about the death on Thursday morning and was shell shocked as Ahmad was a well-mannered and friendly youth. Ahmad was laid to rest on Thursday night in Batla House graveyard.

Ahmad’s father Wakeel Ahmad, who has been residing in Noor Nagar for years, said his son had just got a job with a well-known firm a few months ago.

Ahmad studied in Delhi and was brought up in the locality completing his BTech from a college in Delhi very recently, said a neighbour.
His story was also carried in Urdu daily, the Inquilab.

Arshi, who resides in the same locality and knows the family, said Ahmad died in a freak road accident on Wednesday night when he had gone out to take out money from ATM at 10 pm.

According to the Urdu daily report, Ahmad at the time of accident at Kalkaji was not wearing helmet.

He had come under a truck after his bike skid on the road, said Arshi.

When Ahmad didn’t return home on Wednesday night, his family members started looking for him and during one such interaction with a known doctor they came to know about his dead body in a hospital, said Arshi.

Ahmad has left behind a brother, father and mother.
