Owner Shadab, who has been running his shop in the locality since 2002, found the break-in on Saturday morning when he had gone to open the store. “We have provided CCTV footage that shows the suspect. He entered my shop from an adjacent bakery around midnight with a gas cutter and other equipment in his hands,” said Shadab.

Police stated that one unknown man broke into the shop by cutting through the wall of an adjacent bakery, which he entered after breaking open the locks. “The suspect went inside the bakery shop, cut a hole in the wall towards the jewellery shop, entered the jewellery store through that hole, ransacked it, collected the ornaments, and escaped through the same route,” said the police, as reported by a national daily.

The investigation into the case has begun, and CCTV footage has also surfaced on social media.

According to the Delhi police, a jewellery store named Standard Jewellers in Shaheen Bagh was burgled, and items worth lakhs of rupees were stolen by an unidentified masked man on Saturday. One Hindi daily reported that the stolen jewellery was worth Rs 1 crore.

The PTI reported that one kilogram of jewellery was stolen. As the news spread in the locality, many local residents turned up. Former Councillor Wajid Khan also told a YouTuber that he too has come to know about the incident.
“Once inside the bakery, he drilled a square hole and entered my shop. Then, with the gas cutter, he melted the lock of the chest and stole the jewellery,” said Shadab, as reported by PTI.
