    Over 100 students employed at Jamia job fair, 2,000 registrations

    The University Placement Cell (UPC), Jamia Millia Islamia, organised a job cum internship fair “Career Connect” (Job Utsav) on 3rd & 4th May, 2023 in hybrid mode. The event was organised in collaboration with Nandi Foundation & Mahindra Pride Classroom. IES New Delhi was the associate sponsor of the event.

    The Job Utsav saw overwhelming response from the students and there were 2000 registrations of students across all courses. More than 120 students were selected during this two-day Job Utsav and 500 students have been shortlisted for further rounds.

    There were stalls set up for resume validation and Mock interviews which also experienced a high footfall of 300 students.

    Support Community Journalism

    The total number of companies that participated in the fair (offline and online) were around 60. The major ones were Tech Mahindra, JTEKT, Acxiom Consulting, Vserv, Maintec, The Economic Times, IB Global etc. The offline interviews took place in the class rooms of Faculty of Engineering, Department of Management Studies and University Placement Cell.

    The Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony was JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar who flagged off the event at Faculty of Engineering Auditorium.

    The Welcome Address was given by Director of University Placement Cell, Prof. Rahela Farooqi. She welcomed the dignitaries, HRs from companies and guests and also shared the highlights of placements of 2023 batch.

    Guest of Honour Ravi Srivastava, Regional Manager of Nandi Foundation shared the initiatives of Naandi foundation in agriculture and women empowerment. Vice Chancellor Prof. Akhtar congratulated the University Placement Cell for its endeavours in training and placement of students and organizing the Job Utsav 2023. She also mentioned that JMI strives for the holistic development of its students and expressed confidence in their abilities.

    The vote of thanks was given by Prof Sabah Khan, Hony. Deputy Director, University Placement Cell. She acknowledged the contribution of the officials of the University placement cell, the support of the administration and dedication and hard work of the students of various courses in making the Job Utsav a success.

    The students from Fine Arts department and Hotel Management department had also put up their stalls to showcase their forte in their respective fields. The Student Placement Coordinators and Volunteers from various courses along with the staff of University Placement Cell did an exemplary job and worked night and day to make the event a huge success.
