Mirza Qamarul Hasan Beg needs no introduction at least in Okhla. For a large number of people in this locality who have benefited from Jamia Cooperative Bank (JCB), Beg is a popular face.
Since taking as chairman of JCB years ago at a young age then, Qamarul has helped transform the bank into a modern and technology driven bank.
The JCB was started by Mirza Faridul Hasan Beg (1936 – 2015), a noted social worker who hailed from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Its first branch was opened in Batla House on December 28, 1995 when according to top JCB official the locality was deprived for the banking services. And since then it has spread its wings opening new branches and serving more and more people.
Besides looking after his banking work, Qamarul, a Jamia Millia Islamia alumnus, is also a philanthropist who is always ready to provide succor to the needy.
