IMPAR in consultation with and as per advice of its Religious Affairs Committee, comprised of eminent Islamic scholars,  has issued the guidelines in English, Hindi and Urdu,  calling upon the people to offer Eid prayers at homes, no to shopping, avoiding extravagant Eid meals and donate the money saved to the suffering people, irrespective of caste and creed.

IMPAR advises to stay home and perform prayers. In case of city Jama Masjids or Eidgahs, wherever administration allows, a minimum gathering and with strict Covid safety guidelines the Eid Namaz may be performed. Rest all places perform prayers at homes.

IMPAR has advised its members to look out for poor and needy and those stranded and need food, medicine or any other help.

The first priority of zakat spending must be these people, and those suffering from corona. Zakat, which is paid during Ramazan month @ 2.5 per cent of the assets and is mandated for all Muslims must be spent on poor and destitute and nice categories of such people.

In addition, paying some ones’ school fees on Eid, paying somebody’s rent, feeding a family, helping someone re-start the business etc.

The other points raised in the guidelines are the paying zakat by before the Eid namaz. For this IMPAR has started an online system to facilitate collection and delivery of a zakat funds to be delivered to the beneficiaries, who are unable to reach the donors in the Covid situation.

IMPAR has issued following advisory in compliance of the Government’s guidelines and the preventive measures to be necessarily taken by all to contain the spread of Covid-19 in religious places/ places of worship:

    1. Rules and norms applicable for gathering at religious places to be strictly followed.
    2. Staying indoors is safest and coming out only for medical and other exigencies.
    3. Please remember last year too we stayed indoors on the occasion of Eid, while this year the impact of Covid is much more devastating and ferocious hence we have to be much more cautious for our safety and safety of others simultaneously.
    4. Only five persons are supposed to offer namaz in a Masjid that too where they are staying.
    5. You may offer “Eid namaz” with jamat in the homes if you are four plus one Imam. With six extra “takbir”. Two attached “khutbat” written in Arabic should be read after the namaz and with takbir
    6. Celebrate the festival of Eid with simplicity with your family staying indoors.
    7. Spend on charity instead of shopping. Let us help people and serve humanity.
