    Muslim women from Okhla throng Lajpat Nagar market on Chhoti Diwali

    Diwali is the season of sales and markets attract consumers in large number. With Diwali being celebrated without Covid restrictions across India after two years gap, market places in Delhi are seeing huge rush with many landing to cash in the mega Diwali sales.

    And when it comes to taking benefit of sales, Muslims too don’t hesitate in staying behind.

    This year many Okhla Muslim women thronged Lajpat Nagar with the hope to get benefit from huge sales. A resident who had gone to Lajpat Nagar said she saw many hijab-wearing Muslim women many from Okhla flocking the market to lay their hands on discounted clothes.

    One shop was selling siphon clothes of Rs 2,000 a meter in normal days for just Rs 500 a meter today, she said, getting huge rush.

    She said this is not for the first time but every year, save the Covid time, women do wait for the sales period to start and in Diwali there is huge discount.

    Even in normal days, Lajpat Nagar is a popular destination for Muslims. She said she known many of her friends who visit Lajpat Nagar during festive seasons when discount is available to purchased highly discounted items.
