Watch: Uprooted Cong from Okhla, defeated Hashmi, Asif now your turn, Amanatullah tells Danish

With MCD election 2022 poll campaign entering into the last phase, political leaders are making all out bid to win hearts and minds of voters. Besides, war of words has also started between AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan and sitting Councillor Shoaib Danish.

With the Zakir Nagar ward being reserved for women, Dansih wife Nazia is in the fray. On the other hand AAP has fielded Salma Khan from the ward. While drumming up support for the AAP candidate at Pahalwan Chowk in Batla House a day ago, Amanatullah criticised Danish for doing little to develop the area. He said he has ruled Zakir Nagar for 15 years and did no developmental work, an allegation which has been refuted by Danish who termed them a bunch of lies.

“I was new when I fought against Congress Asif. Okhla was a Congress bastion. And people used to tell me that I won’t be able to win. But I defeated him with a huge margin and uprooted Congress from its bastion. In last MLA election I defeated Congress senior leader Parvez Hashmi with a record margin. I can tell you Danish won’t be able to get more than 7,000 votes this time around,” said Khan.

Hashmi was a bigwig and MLA during 1993-98, 1998-2003, 2003-2008 and 2008-2009. He was also a Rajya Sabha in 2009 from Delhi.

Danish told the OT that actually the MLA did nothing in the area and his candidate will be defeated as people still love me. Go and find out from the people, he said.

AIMIM and BJP’s candidates are also trying their luck in 250-ward MCD poll to be held on December 4. The votes will be counted and the results will be declared on December 7.
