The virtual world erupted with joy after Chandrayaan-3 successfully achieved a soft landing on the Moon at 6.45 pm on Wednesday. The historic feat was celebrated by people across India. University Polytechnic of Jamia had made arrangement where students could watch the Live telecast and as the history was created with India becoming the first country in the world to successfully land on Moon’s south pole.

    Jamia students celebrated the moment.

Jamia VC Prof. Najma Akhtar and her office staff, teachers, students and non teaching staff watched the live telecast of successful landing of Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram lander on Moon. ISRO’s Vikram lander successfully soft-landed on Moon’s south pole — an unchartered territory that scientists believe could hold important reserves.

After landing on the Moon on August 23, Chandrayaan-3 sent its first message saying it reached its destination and also congratulated India. “India, I reached my destination and you too,” the Chandrayaan-3 mission sent its first message commemorating a successful soft-landing on the Moon.

ISRO chairman Sreedhara Panicker Somanath said: “We have achieved soft landing on the moon. India is on the moon.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: “India’s successful moon mission is not India’s alone…Our approach of one earth, one family one future is resonating across the globe…Moon mission is based on the same human-centric approach. So, this success belongs to all of humanity.”
