    Watch: Students’ candlelight vigil at Jamia on 3rd anniversary of police action in 2019

    A candle march was taken out by students of Jamia Millia Islamia today, according to a post by DISSC Jamia.

    “Gather at Central Canteen at 4.30 pm on December 15 in remembrance of police brutality in campus and attack on education,” read a post put the students body DISSC.

    The march was mark the third anniversary of the Delhi Police’s action against protesting students in 2019. Residents who passed by the campus in the evening said the security outside the campus was stepped up.

    Students also claimed of heavy police deployment.
    However, the university administration said the students took out a candlelight vigil to mark the anniversary of the anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act protests, reported PTI.

    “It is not a protest but a candlelight vigil by Jamia students to commemorate the anniversary of the anti-CAA protests and the police action on students. The university gatekeepers had to ensure no outsider enters and there is no untoward incident,” a university official said.
