After more than 40 schools across Delhi received bomb threats by email on Friday, the Delhi Police and fire services sprang into action, evacuating students and launching searches. Among them was the Jamia school, where students were swiftly escorted out as a precautionary measure.
A university official confirmed that the Jamia school was evacuated quickly to ensure everyone’s safety, and a thorough investigation is now underway. “Nothing suspicious has been found so far in Jamia school,” he said, adding that students were sent home as a safety measure.
The sudden arrival of police vans on campus and the hurried evacuation left some bystanders and parents puzzled. Many were seen asking, “Why are there so many police vans at Jamia? Why were the students told to leave within 10 minutes?”
According to media reports, bomb disposal squads and search teams are combing through the affected schools to rule out any threat.
This marks the fourth day this week that schools in the national capital have received similar bomb threats, raising anxiety among students, parents, and authorities.
Over 40 schools in Delhi received bomb threats on emails on Friday, officials said. The threat email claimed that several explosive devices have been placed in classrooms of these schools, reported Hindustan Times.
This bomb threat comes amid a wave of similar incidents in past few days in Delhi. On Wednesday, at least seven schools across Delhi received bomb threat, making it the third day of such event. Bomb disposal teams have arrived in the location and are checking the affected schools.
Police officials urged parents and citizens to remain calm and not fall prey to circulating rumours. While today’s threats appear to be non-credible, the impact on school operations and student safety remains significant, warranting full-scale response protocols, reported NDTV.
