Asmat’s husband Khan told the OT that his wife has always emphasised on empowering the marginalised through education and this is a lifetime opportunity for her.

Before taking plunge as director of BFG, Asmat taught in several schools in Delhi and even was head of one school in Jamia Nagar for years. Asmat told the OT that she would be working to help marginalised fulfill their dreams.

Besides providing education, the Bihar Government-affiliated BFG gives free education to orphan children, said Khan, an AMU alumnus.

At a time when so much is happening it is important that the deprived should focus on education and work hard to achieve their goals, she said. It would be interesting to see what reforms she would make in the BFG after being appointed its first woman direction in years, said a resident.
