Hours after the Congress rally was over in Shaheen Bagh on Tuesday, Amanatullah shared Asif video, sparking controversy online.
Amanatullah Khan wrote in Hindi: “Extremely sad! Congress workers dancing in Shaheen Bagh and there is mourning in Sambhal,”

The rally which took place in Shaheen Bagh was part of the Nyay Yatra kicked started by the Delhi Congress ahead of the Assembly polls 2025.

Since posting it on Facebook and X, the video has literally gone viral soliciting comments and viewership. Till the filing of the report, the video which was posted on Facebook page of the MLA has been viewed more than nine thousand netizens, mostly from Okhla, in an hour. On X, the video has got 22 thousands viewership.

Some views expressed shock over the dance in the rally but there were a few who slammed the AAP leader asking: When will Arvind Kejriwal visit the city? It looks that the video has sparked a debate over the event.
While posting the video, Amanatullah is referring to the event in Shaheen Bagh which according to one Congress worker was a huge hit. In the video, former Congress MLA Asif Md Khan is also seen on the stage.
The OT was unable to verify the authenticity of the video which has become a talk of the town in Okhla, particularly among AAP supporters and its sympathisers. With Amanatullah sharing Asif video, political watchers said the video has come at a time when Amanatullah’s popularity is at the lowest ebb in Okhla and it will be used by him and his team as fresh ammo to sideline his critics and the Congress.
A youth Congress leader said he has no idea of the video circulating in the area as they he had left the spot early.

A leader said the rally which was taken out to express the strength of Congress and party unity so that it could perform better and beat the AAP but the opposite happened in Okhla. He said the rally once again has split the Congress among Old guards and the Turks. “Most of our posters were removed from Shaheen Bagh and Batla House in the night,” said the leader.
Another leader said nobody was singled out but each Congress leader, who are eyeing the ticket from Okhla, tore each other posters. The OT has learned that there are 19 local leaders who are eyeing the Congress ticket. And everybody did their best to impress upon the Delhi Congress chief so that s/he could get the ticket.
The Congress had kicked off its month-long Delhi Nyay Yatra from Rajghat to drum up support for its candidates. Before Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP dethroned the party, the Congress ruled Delhi for years.
Amanatullah vs Asif in Okhla?
In Okhla too, Amanatullah came to power by defeating Asif Md Khan and then in last election he won in a direct fight against Pervez Hashmi.
He had won with a record margin. However since then his popularity has dipped in the last five years, residents have lamented that he has failed to deliver on his promises. Political observers said to perform better in the upcoming Assembly elections 2025, Congress has to work together and end internal feud in Okhla which was very much visible during the Tuesday rally in the locality
According to experts Amanatullah is up against anti-incumbency and the Congress has upper hand this time around but a lot will depend on who gets the ticket from the Congress.
To gain his lost popularity, Amanatullah a day ago started a clean-up Okhla campaign. In a video message he assured Okhla residents that in the coming two months he will do his best to clean Okhla. He said during his meeting with Arvind Kejriwal he was directed to work for cleaning Okhla.
