A special delegation from AIMIM Delhi met with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in Batla House demolition case, according to AIMIM Delhi president Shoaib Jamai.

A memorandum was submitted requesting an immediate halt to these actions, including proposed demolition drives being carried out by the DDA in Batla House and other parts of Delhi, he said.

“A constructive discussion took place with the Chief Minister, during which all issues were presented in detail. She assured the delegation that she would personally speak to the DDA on this matter and efforts would be made to halt the demolitions. We hope that, keeping public interest in mind and rising above politics, the Delhi Government will extend humanitarian relief in this matter,” Shoaib told the OT.

“For the past few days, people in Delhi have been in a state of panic due to demolition drives across various areas. Our delegation met the Delhi CM today to discuss this issue. Residents from the affected areas also accompanied us. In the memorandum, we clearly stated how the action by the DDA is unfair and should be stopped with immediate effect,” he told PTI.

The delegation included Delhi State president Dr Shoaib Jamai, along with affected local residents from Batla House (Muradi Road) and responsible members of the party, said the AIMIM release in Batla House demolition case.

On June 23, Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan said all the residents whose houses had got eviction notices have succeeded in getting temporary relief from the courts in Batla House demolition case.

It was on May 26 when the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had landed in Muradi Road with security forces and pasted eviction notices following the Supreme Court order. Affected residents were given 15 days time to vacate their alleged encroached properties. The deadline had expired on June 11. Since then residents approached courts and from to time they got temporary relief.

Three days ago, Amanatullah Khan released a video message in Hindi related to Batla House demolition case. Below is a rough English translation of his statement: “…Today, seven cases related to the matter were listed in the High Court. In all seven property cases, a stay was granted. Fahad Khan, who is representing the residents as a lawyer, appeared in court today. This is good news for the entire Okhla community, as the Delhi High Court has granted a stay until July 10.

“I also want to clarify that the part which the DDA wants to demolish was fully authorised. Batla House was authorised in 1998… this section is part of that authorised area. It does not fall under the PM-UDAY scheme, nor is it considered unauthorised, which is why this issue arose in the first place.

“If a re-demarcation is done, everything will become clear. The DDA’s claim that these Batla House properties are encroachments is incorrect. Once proper demarcation happens, all the facts will come to light. All properties, shops, and homes in the area will remain safe. In total, there were 246 properties and 31 shops that were at some level of risk. Today, all have received relief. Once again, I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who prayed, supported, and stood with us throughout. We are also grateful to the legal team for their tireless efforts.”
