Watch: 120 kg biryani, tea, Rooh Afza sharbat served to namazis, people out on Friday night in Okhla

Friday night saw a lot of activities in Okhla with residents in good number stepping out of their houses to visit mosques to pray while night, something that many Islamic scholars don’t approve of. However, for many in India the habit of visiting mosque at night on Shab-E-Barat has become a culture short of thing. In Okhla, too many residents were seen visiting mosques in post-pandemic without any restrictions after a gap of two years, said residents.

To serve these namazis, many people put up food kiosks outside mosques. If some served free tea, Rooh Afza sharbat too the namazis at night a few people even served biryani for them. Okhla Vihar-resident Syyed Fouzul Azeem (Arshi) said his team distributed 120-kilogram biryani for local residents on Shab-E-Barat night.

Arshi said the task could not have been accomplished without help of my team. I thank Saroor Ali, Imlaqh Hussain Rizvi, Konain Hussain Rizvi, Firoz Alam, Danish Saifi, Shabbi Saifi, Shabbir Ali, Zishan Rizvi, Chand Rizvi, Rafique Malik, Sarfaraz Saifi and others for being part of the distribution.

Following the night, security was beefed up in the locality with leaders and cops requesting bikers to avoid bike stunt on the night. For the last many years, religious leaders too have been asking Muslim youths to avoid bike stunt. And it appears that the appeal has been effective this year as no untoward incidents were reported till the filing of the report.
