    Jamia to hold mega 103rd Foundation Day celebrations

    Jamia to hold mega 103rd Foundation Day celebrations

    Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is celebrating its 103rd Foundation Day at a grand scale. The five-day celebration will be starting from October 27 and will end on October 31, 2023.

    The main function will be held on October 29, 2023 at the forecourt of MA Ansari Auditorium at 10.00 am where NCC Cadets will give Guard of Honour to JMI Vice Chancellor, Prof. Najma Akhtar & Founder & Director of ILBS, New Delhi, Dr. Shiv Kumar Sarin followed by Flag Hoisting and singing of Jamia Parcham song.

    Recently constructed Centenary Gate will also be inaugurated on this occasion. The Cultural Programmes will be held in MA Ansari Auditorium where veteran actress Sharmia Tagore will be conferred with Imtiaz-e-Jamia Award. School and university students will present a number of cultural programmes till late evening.

    On the first day of the celebration (October 27), the university is organizing a Blood Donation Camp, Dental Check-up Camp and Physiotherapy Camp, Film Screening, Exhibition about Women of Jamia, Panel Discussion, Photographic Exhibition by Faculty of Architecture. Jamia Schools will also organise programmes and an exhibition will also be organised by Dr Zakir Husain Library.

    On 28th October, AJK-Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC) will be screening films at its Preview Theatre. Exhibition, Extension Lectures, Cultural Activities by the Departments, Kavi Goshti and other activities will be organised in different departments.

    On 30th October, Debating Club of the university will organise a Debate Competition, Film Screening will be held at the Preview Theatre of AJK-MCRC. Schools and departments will also organise programmes in the respective departments.

    An exhibition of paintings, sculptures and photographs will be organized by Faculty of Fine Arts at MF Husain Arts Gallery of the university. A lecture on the History of JMI will be organized at the Department of History & Culture. A Quiz Competition will be held at Faculty of Engineering Auditorium and memorial lecture, seminar, sorkshop will be organized in the respective departments and centres.

    On the last day i.e. 31st October, film screening will be held in the Preview Theatre of AJK-MCRC. Cultural Programmes by School students will be held in the Auditorium, Jamia Schools. Maqbool Nikhat Mehndi Memorial Lecture will be held in the Seminar Room of Department of History & Culture and academic & cultural activities will be organised at respective departments and centres.

    In the evening, a story reading competition & a musical evening programme will be organised in MA Ansari Auditorium, JMI.

    The 5-day celebration will end with Flag Lowering Ceremony by NCC Cadets at the forecourt of MA Ansari Auditorium of the university.
